Best fish and chips ever! Super crunchy and perfectly cooked!
Wonderful pub in country setting. Main drawcard was it offered a large gluten free menu. In the end it was a little limited owing to the time of year coming so soon after all the public holidays but the fish and chips was large, tasty and very well cooked; even the peas were well cooked and the chips were excellent.The desserts were great. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very close to Audley End House. Price wise a little rich for a country pub but as many items are available GF we definitely return for the choice and quality.
We went there on Saturday evening and almost all the tables were reserved but one. We were told we can only order the food after 6pm ( this was 5;45pm). Not everything on the menu was available but I was allowed to order a starter as a main meal. We waited for food about 50 minutes but luckily there was a pool table & kids enjoyed it. Once the food came out it was lovely - we all enjoyed all of it - worth waiting for. There are toilets, its child & family friendly. Theres car park. Recommended x
Lovely pub with huge Beer garden. We had an excellent family meal here for 12, very attentive staff, Great menu choices with gluten-free options as standard. The food was hot and delicious.
Really nice welcoming place! We were greeted with a smile by a very positive lady (possibly one of the owners or a manager) who, although we had not booked, offered us a table. We ordered nut roast and it was super tasty! You could tell it was home-made. The food was hot and fresh. The lovely server brought our vegetables that accompanied the dish and said we could ask for more of it. We were happy we decided to stop at the "Fighting Cocks" as we had left another place (not far away) as we were put off by the owner's attitude. We were very disappointed and decided to keep driving. We don't regret and it was well worth it. The "Fighting Cocks" is only 30mins away from Cambridge and we will definitely be coming back! :) Thanks!
